SS501 Heo Young-saeng to kick off solo singing career next month

SS501 member Heo Young-saeng is set to kick off his solo singing career next month, according to his agency B2M Entertainment on Tuesday. 

"He is currently recording his special album which will feature a dance track," an official from his agency B2M Entertainment explained to 10Asia over the phone. "He will begin promoting the album at the end of February." 

Heo made his debut in the five-member group SS501 with their first self-titled album in 2005, releasing various hit songs such as "Snow Prince," U R Man" and "Love Ya." 

In June 2009 however, the members of SS501 went separate ways after their contract with DSP Media expired -- Kim Hyun-joong signed with KEYEAST, Park Jung-min with CNR Media and Kim Hyung-joon with S-Plus Entertainment, while Kim Kyu-jong and Heo signed with Lee Hyori's agency B2M Entertainment.

The two held their official fan meeting in early December and continued their meet-and-greet into several other countries in Asia including Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.

SS501’s Park Jung Min reveals his schedule for 2011

 SS501’s Park Jung Min has high hopes for 2011, as he was born in the year of the rabbit back in 1987.  He’s been gearing up for his solo debut since late last year and has released a Japanese photobook, “Present,” and opened fan signings since then.

His first solo album will be released on January 20th and his schedule is jam packed with events for the year.

He stated, “In January, I’ll be promoting my album in Korea.  An international tour in Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Thailand is planned for February.  Starting April, I’ll be filming for a drama in Taiwan.  I’ll be coming home once in a while for fan meetings and my birthday, but I think I’ll be fully immersed in the drama for three months.  In May, I’ll be releasing a Japanese album followed by Chinese promotions.  For the second half of the year, I’ll return to Korea and announce my drama filming and new album.”

Even upon first glance, his schedule looks busy and breathless, and even though he claims himself to be a lazy person by nature, Park revealed that he pushes himself to work hard because he no longer has the safety of his fellow SS501 members that have been by his side for the past five years.

 He continued, “At first, I didn’t agree to what we’re doing now because I loved the comfort of being a part of a group.  But now that we’re all walking separate paths in an effort to learn new things, I decided that this would be a good opportunity for me to learn and improve myself.  I could’ve settled for what I had, but this solo debut has allowed me to break out of the cage I put myself in.”

Park Jung Min first declared his debut last November in the form of a digital single, but postponed it to February due to the Yeonpyeong Island incident.  He took the delay as an opportunity to add more tracks to the album and release it as a full official album.  Unfortunately, the 15,000 singles that he already printed were trashed due to the change.

“I rushed the preparations so there were a lot of things missing, and I instead took the opportunity to start new.  I’m the first out of SS501 to be releasing a solo album so I felt the pressure and responsibility.  I trashed everything I had and re-recorded everything and edited the music video again as well.  You can definitely look forward to it,” he explained.

 His first showcase/fan meeting scheduled for the 22nd has sold out within 14 minutes of the tickets going on sale.  “They said that starting from this year till I turn 30, my future will be like a broad and level road.  So much luck is coming in even now, I’m really looking forward to this year.”

This year was full of events, many were happy, some were painful, we laughed, and cried but the support of triple S didn't diminish, it became stronger than ever, and it wont stop, my support and love wont stop either no matter what happens, even if im far away from Korea i feel close to you day by day, through every news, every pic that comes,im happy when you're happy and im sad whenever  you're sad, when i was down, just watching you made me feel better, made me laugh, smile and feel happy.

Park Jung Min holds fansigning event for release of photobook

SS501’s Park Jung Min held a fansigning event to celebrate the release of his Japanese photobook, ‘Present‘.

Jung Min’s management company, CNR Media, expressed, “Park Jung Min held a fan signing event for ‘Present’ on December 21st at 5 PM in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Since 1 PM, 400 fans have gathered to see Park Jung Min, and they had received advanced reservations on the internet. All 15,000 copies of the first edition were all sold out.”

Jung Min was photographed with fellow Japanese celebrities such as Ryoko Hirosue and Aoi Miyazaki. He will also be holding fanmeetings in Osaka and Tokyo on December 22nd and 23rd, respectively.

SS501’s Kyujong and Youngsaeng have successful fanmeeting

SS501’s Kim Kyujong and Heo Youngsaeng hosted a fanmeeting, titled ‘Kyujong & Youngsaeng Story In Seoul‘, on December 4th at Seoul Sangmyung College. It was their first event together with their new companies after last sharing the stage six months ago.

The two met in the waiting room once again, full of emotions just like their debut. They were very thankful to the fans who were in attendance, and they were excited for their performance together.

After the one hour fanmeeting, the two greeted the fans. Even though it was an exciting one hour, the two looked like they wanted to do more. Kyujong will be acting and Youngsaeng will be doing solo activities, but they have promised to appear in front of fans again in the near future.

Kim Hyun Joong states SS501 will not be disbanding

SS501’s leader Kim Hyun Joong strongly affirmed that that SS501 will not be disbanding.

In a recent interview, he stated, “With our members branching out into different companies, many wonder whether SS501 is disbanding or not. We were only able to move companies because we had confirmed with one another that we would continue to work as a group under the name of SS501.”

He continued, “During that time when our contracts expired, there was no company that would take in all five of us.”

Regarding SS501’s future activities, he answered, “For now, we’ll do solo albums for a bit. We’re planning to get together for a performance. Due to our companies being different, it’s difficult to get our schedules coordinated, but it will get done.”

Kim Hyun Joong concluded the interview by expressing his friendship with the other members. “I get in contact with the members every single day. Hyung Joon once said that I ignored one of his text messages at the press conference for his musical, but that’s not what happened. I was in China for the‘Guangzhou Asian Games‘. I called him right away after the event.”

Kim Hyun-joong says SS501 has not disbanded

Singer and actor Kim Hyun-joong has said his boy band SS501 has not disbanded, playing down rumor that its five members will go separate ways since their contract with their former agency has ended and some have signed with new management.

The 24-year-old heartthrob made the remark on Thursday at a press conference for upcoming MBC drama "Naughty Kiss," the Korean small screen adaptation of Japanese comic series "Itazura na Kiss," where he will play the role of a Mr. Perfect who ends up falling in love with a girl always getting into trouble, taken on by actress Jung So-min.

Emphasizing that "nothing has been decided" regarding a possible breakup of the band, Kim explained, "People say we have disbanded but none of that talk has come from our mouths. What are you going to do if we then come out with a new album? Please just wait and see."

Kim is the first member from his group to sign with a new agency after SS501's contract with DSP Media expired in early June. He joined KEYEAST later that month, one of South Korea's largest entertainment houses of which top actor Bae Yong-joon is a major shareholder.

Park Jung-min found nest at CNR Media two weeks ago, a firm set up jointly by Korea's ROY MEDIA and major Taiwanese drama production company Comic-Ritz, which houses Chai Zhi Ping, the first producer to turn Japanese comic series "Boys Over Flowers" into a TV series in Asia.

And while members Heo Young-saeng and Kim Kyu-jong have yet to join new agencies, Kim Hyung-joon is currently looking into signing with Kang Ji-hwan's talent firm S Plus Entertainment.

"I moved to KEYEAST because I wanted to gain on my experience as an actor. But I was happy because the agency said it would manage my career not only as an actor but as a singer as well," Kim Hyun-joong said, commenting on his move for the first time in public.

He then added, "It has not been set as of yet but it's true that I'm preparing for my singing career as well. I don't know if I'll go solo or be part of a group but as of now, I'm preparing for an album with a solo career in mind."

Kim also said he had originally planned to take a break after moving to KEYEAST but took on "Naughty Kiss" after being offered his role by the show's director Hwang In-roe of "Goong" (MBC, 2006) and "The Return of Iljimae" (MBC, 2009) fame.

"Itazura na Kiss," a popular manga by Karou Tada, has sold over 27 million copies in Japan and was turned into an anime series in the country in 2008 by director Osamu Yamazaki.

It was also turned into a TV series in Taiwan where it was recognized as the No. 1 show in the country and was shown in 13 countries throughout Asia.

"Naughty Kiss" will go on air in Korea starting September 1.

SS501 with teary eyes at fan meeting

On June 13th, popular idol group SS501 held a fan meeting at Seoul Times Square in Youngdeungpo right after celebrating their 5th anniversary last week. Many fans attended the event, and needless to say, all members of SS501 were very grateful to the point where they all started to tear up on-stage.

The talented group performed 8 songs at the event, including their latest hit Love Ya to which they recently dominated the K-Charts with on Music Bank.

They also left a special message for fans which you can check out below.
