SS501 takes over music charts in Taiwan
Korean idols SS501 have topped several music charts in Taiwan with their latest album, according to agency DSP Media. In Taiwan, SS501's new record "DESTINATION," which was released in the country on June 26, was handed the Platinum award, handed to albums selling over 30,000 copies, while remaining at No. 1 and 2 on the music charts of record retailers G-Music, Five-Music and Kuangnan. Warner Music Taiwan, which released the new album in two versions, A and B, on major online shopping mall (http://www.books.com.tw/), revealed that the latter version took first place every week on the website's weekly music chart. On the monthly chart, version A was ranked third and fourth while B held onto the No.1 spot. "DESTINATION" has fared well on several other web-based music charts as well, placing amongst the top ranks on KKBOX and ezPeer+. Their title track "Love Ya" has maintained a steady reign on mobile music charts including TWM, FET and emome. SS501 made their debut with the single "Warning" in 2005, releasing numerous albums as a group and pursuing individual careers in acting and appearing in various programs. "DESTINATION," which was released in Korea on May 24, had scored various wins on televised music programs and online charts. The future of the popular five-member group has been up in the air after their contract with DSP expired on June 8. Group leader Kim Hyun-joong signed with Hallyu star Bae Yong-joon's agency KEYEAST in late June and members Kim Hyung-jun, Heo Young-saeng, Kim Kyu-jong and Park Jung-min have yet to make a decision.
